Numerous wrecks reported in Oklahoma City Friday morning in snow

In western and southwestern and southern Oklahoma, highways are slick, ODOT reports. Crews are out spreading salt and sand to treat slick areas.

Highways are clear in eastern and northeastern Oklahoma, but they are monitoring conditions, ODOT reports.

Highways in the Oklahoma City metro area have some slick spots and crews continue to treat isolated areas as needed. Drivers should still be cautious of slick spots and black ice. Commuters should plan extra travel time and make sure cars are clear of ice before driving.

Crews will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day as freezing conditions are expected to continue. Drivers are asked to be cautious. Travelers are urged to check with other states before driving out-of-state, ODOT reports.

During snow and ice conditions, motorists are asked to:

·        Check road conditions before getting out on the roads.

·        Stay at least 200 feet behind road-clearing equipment; crews need room to maneuver and can engage plowing or spreading materials without notice.
