NW 206 washout shuts down northwest Oklahoma County roadway

10:15 a.m. NW 206 between N Portland Avenue and N May Avenue will be closed for all but local traffic for four to five days while crews rebuild a portion of the roadway that has washed out, said Ray Vaughn, Oklahoma County commissioner for district three. The washout was discovered Friday morning after rain Thursday night in northwest Oklahoma County, Vaughn said. He said NW 206 will be open for local traffic only as workers replace a tinhorn for drainage and work to reopen the road. The rains washed out a portion of roadway 25 feet long and 12 feet wide. 9:50 a.m. A large sinkhole has shut down NW 206 east of N Portland Avenue, the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office reports Friday morning.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
