NY recognized for being an energy efficient state

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York is being recognized for being an energy-efficient state.

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy rated New York No. 3 behind Massachusetts and California in its state-by-state scorecard for energy efficiency released Wednesday.

The group compared states' policies and programs to encourage the efficient use of energy. The group noted that New York has a goal of reducing the state's energy consumption by 15 percent by 2015.

The group's mission is to advance energy efficiency policies, technologies and investments.
