LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a senior at a Buffalo-area high school has died while on a class trip to Florida.

Officials with the Lackawanna school district tell local media outlets that Jeffrey Cintron died Friday after falling ill during the senior class trip to Disney World in Orlando.

They say he complained of back pain while at a hotel on the Disney property, where he was checked out by an ambulance crew before being taken to a hospital. School officials say he lost consciousness while en route to the hospital, where he died in the emergency room late Friday night.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The teen was one of 48 seniors and four chaperones on the trip. They're scheduled to return Monday.
