EDGARTOWN, Mass. (AP) — When President Barack Obama arrived on the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard for vacation, he had just one of his two daughters with him.
The other daughter may be at his side when Obama's two-week holiday ends next week.
In a first for Obama family summer vacations, neither teenager is spending the whole vacation with her father.
Daughter Malia flew up with her parents Aug. 9. She returned to Washington with her father late Sunday and wasn't expected to go back.
The White House says daughter Sasha will join her parents on the island this week. Officials didn't say when she's arriving and what kept her away, or why Malia left.
Obama plans to return to Martha's Vineyard on Tuesday and stay until Aug. 24.
