Cal Hobson (Your Views, July 6) cites the same four or five reasons to support Obamacare being spewed by liberal pundits across the country. The few talking points that they say make this a great bill could have been written in a three- or four-page bill. Obamacare runs to more than 2,700 pages! Most of them cover regulations, taxes and adding to the federal bureaucracy. In fact, it's not about health care but a massive expansion of the size, scope and power of the federal government. It also steals money from Medicare and would require hundreds of new IRS agents for enforcement. Hobson doesn't mention this. We could have simply bought health insurance for those who have none for a fraction of the cost of this bill.
Conservatives aren't against helping people; we're against the intrusion by the government into the lives of free people as protected by our Constitution. I would expect Hobson, a career politician, to support anything that grows government because that's all he knows. The rest of us just want to be left alone.
