Faulk said the man had been staying at Kerr Park for about a week. He said Occupy OKC is withholding information about the man's identity pending notification of his family by authorities.

About 2:50 p.m., the discovery of the body was reported to police, and investigators went to the scene, Lt. Kevin Barnes said.

It appears the man died of natural causes, but the medical examiner will determine cause of death, Barnes said.

Because the body was unattended at the time of death and because of the man's age, the homicide unit is investigating, Nelson said.

“The poet was found dead in his tent at Kerr Park earlier this afternoon by other participants. Police and emergency personnel were immediately contacted,” according to the news release.

All Occupy OKC events scheduled Monday were canceled.
