Oklahoma Christian School's Luke Frankfurt appeared to have suffered a serious injury Saturday night in the fourth quarter of the Saints 44-41 win over Davis in the Class 2A state championship game.

But the sophomore linebacker/running back was released from the Stillwater hospital early Sunday morning, said his father, Mitch Frankfurt.

Frankfurt injured his neck on a tackle, and his right side momentarily went numb, his father said.

Frankfurt was transported by ambulance to the hospital for tests.

As a result, Frankfurt missed the chance to celebrate the state title with his teammates on the field, but the OCS team bus made a stop at the hospital the on the way back to Edmond.

OCS coach Derek Turner said the nursing staff wasn't keen on the idea of a trophy presentation and celebration at the hospital.

“We were going in to see him in groups of five until they ran us out,” he said.

EDMOND NORTH TAKES TULSA UNION TOURNAMENT

It's about as dramatic as a high school wrestling tournament gets before the state tournament.

Entering the final three matches at the Mid-America Nationals tournament over the weekend at Tulsa Union, Edmond North trailed Collinsville by 11 points for the team title.

The Huskies had three finalists — triplets Lance, Joel and Andrew Dixon remaining in championship matches — and needed all three to win to pull off a comeback win.

At 182 pounds, Lance earned a reversal in the second period and came out with a 3-0 win over Matt Meyer of Allen, Texas. Joel followed with a 4-2 win over Altus' Sean Carson at 195.
