Oklahoma City University exercise and sport science professor Tom Darling received a three-year appointment to the Cancer Health Disparities research program at the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center.
Darling, as an affiliate member of the team, will focus his research agenda on cancer control. His work will include investigating the effect of exercise and mental imagery in alleviating symptom severity and enhancing quality of life, and exploring the cancer burden and the role of the caregiver.
He also plans to work on related research as indicated by the cancer center’s objectives, which includes the relevance and importance of addressing cancer health disparities on specific societal groups in Oklahoma like Native American tribes and underserved communities.
The Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center is on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center campus in Oklahoma City. It is the state’s only comprehensive academic cancer center.
