Carlesimo said the coaching staff needs to get more familiar with the skills of newcomers Russell Westbrook, Desmond Mason and Joe Smith.

"Hopefully we can build some offense off our defense too,” said Chris Wilcox. "We want to be a running team. It comes in practice, though, and we haven’t really had enough practice and had enough time to sit back and watch film.

"So I think these next couple of days will be good for us.”

The Thunder had just 38 points at halftime Tuesday after making only 14 of 41 shots (34 percent) and missing all four of its 3-point attempts.

"For a team who hasn’t put half its plays in we’re doing all right,” said Kevin Durant, who scored a team-high 18 points Tuesday.

"But that’s not an excuse for us playing hard every night. That’s one thing we’ve got to continue to do. But once we get this time off for practice we can get some time in to put more plays in and hopefully that helps us out.”
