The police officer who was arrested on an allegation that he shot his daughter’s boyfriend to death had never been disciplined in his 24-year career with the Tulsa Police Department, records released Thursday show.

Shannon Kepler, 54, was arrested early Wednesday after his daughter, Lisa Kepler, told police her father had approached her and her boyfriend, 19-year-old Jeremey Lake, argued with her, then shot Lake multiple times, killing him.

Kepler was jailed along with his wife, Gina Kepler, 48, who police accuse of helping to hide her husband following the shooting. The Keplers joined the police force on the same day in 1990 and were married two years later.

Gina Kepler had been suspended two times — for five days in 2012 after a series of minor policy and procedure violations from December 2011 and again for five days this June for sleeping in her vehicle while on duty in August 2013.
