Tulsa County sheriff’s deputies are at the scene of a shooting southwest of Tulsa Monday afternoon, dispatchers confirmed.

Just after 3:30 p.m., deputies received a report of a shooting at the 7200 block of West Skyline Drive, police said. Dispatchers said the caller indicated a man was shot in the back from the attic while attempting to shoot a squirrel.

Tulsa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Billy McKelvey said the homeowner told deputies he is renovating his gazebo and has been having problems with squirrels in the area while doing so. He said he has successfully caught a couple of squirrels in the past and knew where this particular squirrel was in the house, so he went to the attic to catch it, McKelvey said.
