Ohio State AD Gene Smith gets $18,000 bonus for NCAA wrestler's win Published: March 25, 2014

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith has a great contract.

Smith's contract calls for him to get a bonus of one week's pay for every individual NCAA title by an Ohio State athlete. That means that when the Buckeyes' Logan Stieber won his third NCAA wrestling championship on Saturday in Oklahoma City, Smith got a paycheck of $18,447.94.

As expected, the news (reported in an Associated Press story by Rusty Miller) hasn't gone over well in the media.
