Combined weighted average report for Oklahoma auctions. Seven auctions reported this week: Apache, El Reno, McAlester, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Woodward. Feeder steers traded 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers sold steady to 4.00 higher. Calves steady to firm on limited test. Futures contracts stayed bullish this week leading to an increase demand for all classes. Drought reports this week have the eastern half of Oklahoma listed at normal levels and have downgraded the western half of the state from extreme to moderate drought conditions with exception of the Panhandle.

USDA'S CATTLE ON FEED REPORT

Cattle on feed as of April 1, 2013, totaled 10.9 million head, 95 percent of a year ago. Placements of cattle in the feedlots during March totaled 1.90 million head, 106 percent of a year ago. Cattle weighing under 600 lbs. 22 percent of the total placements; 600-700 lbs. 17 percent; 700-800 lbs. 28 percent; and 800 lbs. and up were 33 percent of the total placements. Marketings of fed cattle during the month of March totaled 1.77 million head 92 percent of a year ago.
