Combined weighted average report for Oklahoma auctions. Seven auctions reported this week: Ada, Apache, McAlester, Oklahoma City West, Oklahoma National Stockyards, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeder cattle this week sold steady to $2 higher. Calves sold $2-$5 higher. A much welcomed warmer weather trend has settled across the state providing producers a chance to bring their cattle to market. Demand good to very good.

USDA'S cattle on feed report: Cattle on feed as of February 1, 2014 totaled 10.8 million head, 97 percent of a year ago. Placements of cattle in the feedlots during January totaled 2.03 million head, 109 percent of a year ago. Cattle weighing under 600 lbs. 23 percent of the total placements; 600-700 lbs. 21 percent; 700-800 lbs. 28 percent; and 800 lbs. and up were 28 percent of the total placements. Marketings of fed cattle during the month of January totaled 1.79 million head 95 percent of a year ago.
