Karen Carney, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma City airport, says that with icy precipitation and low visibility, a flight could be canceled without much notice.

Airport officials say that even if the Oklahoma airports remain open, travelers must also consider conditions at other airports. Dallas could see snow or freezing rain while Atlanta and Houston could see thunderstorms.

Carney says crews applied chemicals to Oklahoma City runways overnight in the effort to keep the airport open.
