ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia, Canada — Max Reinhart had two goals and an assist Friday night, leading the Abbotsford Heat to a 5-1 rout over the Oklahoma City Barons in an American Hockey League game.
A crowd of 2,931 at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre watched the Heat charge to a 4-0 lead after two periods. Oklahoma City's C.J. Stretch ruined goaltender Joni Ortio's shutout bid with 13:50 left in the game, but that's all the Barons' offensively challenged front end could do. The Barons had 33 shots on Ortio, including 12 in the third period.
Oklahoma City's starting goaltender, Richard Bachman, was pulled for the second consecutive game after Abbotsford scored four times on 18 shots. Reinhart had back-to-back goals, about 11 minutes apart in the second period, that chased Bachman. Chet Pickard played the final 27:44 and allowed one goal on six shots.
A day after coach Todd Nelson and Barons general manager Bill Scott said roster stability would help a struggling Oklahoma City club the second half of the season, the parent Edmonton Oilers called up center Roman Horak and defenseman Martin Marincin. The Edmonton Journal reported that Horak and Marincin were recalled by the NHL team as insurance players while Ryan Jones, Mark Arcobello and Phillip Larsen recover from various ailments.
