DES MOINES, Iowa — Derek Nesbitt scored two goals, and Andrew Miller added three assists Sunday as the Oklahoma City Barons beat the Iowa Wild 4-2 in an American Hockey League game.
A crowd of 4,217 at Wells Fargo Arena watched Oklahoma City recover from a first period deficit and score twice in each the second and third periods. Nesbitt also had an assist on the game-winner, a power-play goal from Anton Lander with 10:10 left in the game. Ryan Jones added a power-play goal 46 seconds later with Miller getting the lone assist.
The Barons avoided the worst start in franchise history, improving to 1-3-0.
Oklahoma City's backup goaltender, Olivier Roy, started his first game of the season and made 28 saves.
Dave Steckel gave Iowa (1-1-0) took a 1-0 lead early in the first period, before Nesbitt answered with back-to-back goals about four minutes apart in the second period. Miller assisted on both.
The Barons return to the Cox Center at 7 p.m. Tuesday to face the Texas Stars. Tickets are available at the Cox Center box office.
