An early start was no problem for the Oklahoma City Barons as they won their annual Kids Education Day game, beating the San Antonio Rampage 3-2 on Tuesday at the Cox Center.
Linus Omark scored the game-winner at 16:50 of the third period, flipping a wrister page San Antonio's Jacob Markstrom. It was Omark's team-leading ninth goal of the season.
Roman Horak, recently acquired from the Calgary Flames organization, scored his first goal for OKC. Horak put the Barons ahead 2-1 in the third period when he slammed home a rebound of a shot by Martin Marincin. Anton Lander also scored for the Barons (6-6-0-2), and Martin Gernat added two assists.
Ryan Whitney, recently sent down by the NHL's Florida Panthers, and Bobby Butler scored for the Rampage. Whitney added an assist in his Rampage debut.
OKC goalie Tyler Bunz stopped 34 of 36 shots and was named the first star of the game.
The Barons play host to Abbotsford at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights at the Cox Center.
