Chances weren't the issue for the Oklahoma City Barons on Tuesday night at the Cox Center.

Capitalizing on those chances, though, was.

Four times, the Barons shots found a post, the couldn't take advantage of a nearly two-minute 5-on-3 chance and a last-second one-timer skirted off Colten Teubert's stick as Rochester made the Barons pay with a 4-3 overtime win in front of 4,044.

“It just wasn't in the cards for us tonight,” Barons coach Todd Nelson said. “If any of those post shots are a quarter of an inch on the inside, it's a different game.

“I thought we probably deserved a better fate tonight.”

The Barons, still leading the American Hockey League's West Division, host Rochester again at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

“It's good to have these two games back to back,” Barons winger Triston Grant said. “It's good to get our legs back under us and because we've got a big trip coming up after this weekend.”

The close calls for the Barons started midway through the first when Magnus Paajarvi and Teemu Hartikainen each rang shots off the post about a minute apart. About five minutes later, Kirill Tulupov's shot also found the post.

Midway through the second, the Americans' Joe Finley was called for delay of game just seven seconds after Riley Boychuk was sent to the box for roughing.

The Barons, though, couldn't take advantage of the extended two-man advantage, clanging yet another shot off the post.

“We got great chances,” Nelson said. “It's just one of those things that happens.”
