OKC Barons: Mark Arcobello's status with Barons remains unclear

With the NHL trade deadline on Wednesday, the Oklahoma City forward might have played his final game in a Barons uniform. The loss of Arcobello would be huge to the Barons’ offense. He has 19 points in nine games since being sent down by the Edmonton Oilers.

With the NHL trade deadline on Wednesday, forward Mark Arcobello, the Barons’ all-time scorer, might have played in his final American Hockey League game with Oklahoma City.

Arcobello, who was re-assigned to Oklahoma City a month ago after playing the first three months of the season with Edmonton, has 19 points in nine games with the Barons, including two points in Sunday’s 6-5 win over San Antonio.

“I’m here with this team right now, so that’s what I’m focused on,” Arcobello said. “Whatever happens later this week is nothing I can control.”

NELSON NOTCHES 300th WIN

Todd Nelson collected his 300th career win as a pro coach. Nelson, 44, has compiled 151 wins in four seasons with the Barons. He was 149-58-25 in three seasons with Muskegon in the old United Hockey League.

“Things have been good. I’ve been really blessed to coach some good hockey teams,” Nelson said. “It’s been a good run, but I’m not finished, yet.

“I wasn’t even aware. Fordo (Matthew Ford) always looks at those kind of milestones. It’s something I can be proud of, but then you turn your focus to the next game.”
