Barons rookie forward Andrew Miller scored a goal in his first game back after being sidelined the past two months with a broken hand.
Miller scored his sixth goal of the season midway through the second period of a 3-2 loss to Grand Rapids on Friday night at the Cox Convention Center.
“I’ve been itching to get back in a game and be a little more part of the team,” Miller said. “It’s tough when you’re not practicing and you don’t go on road trips, but everyone goes through it at some point.”
Miller, 25, is older than most prospects after playing four years at Yale. He has 20 points in 38 games with the Barons.
ARCOBELLO STREAK CONTINUES
Mark Arcobello recorded his 10th goal of the season with just under six minutes to extend his franchise record scoring streak to 14 consecutive games.
After spending the first three months of the season in the NHL with Edmonton, Arcobello has scored 27 points in 14 games with the Barons. Arcobello has scored in every game since he was assigned to Oklahoma City on Feb. 2.
LEACH SCORES IN AHL DEBUT
Promoted from Double-A Bakersfield (Calif.) earlier in the week, defenseman Joey Leach scored in his American Hockey League debut. Leach, who scored seven points in 56 games with the Condors, supplied the key assist on Miller’s goal.
“It’s always nice to hit the stat sheet, especially your first game. It’s great for your confidence,” Leach said. “I just made a simple play in the corner. Pitty (Tyler Pitlick) made a nice pass to me, and Millys took off (for a breakaway).”
