Barons goaltender Richard Bachman started Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is hockey's version of a triple-header. A 26-year-old veteran with 35 games NHL experience, Bachman recorded 98 saves in the three games, including 32 and 41 in wins over Milwaukee Saturday and Sunday.

“Because we played three games in three nights, Milwaukee was the fresher team,” said Barons coach Todd Nelson. “Our guys hung in there, and Bachman played well. Needing solid (goaltending) is a given on any team but especially with our team.”

PENALTY KILL UNIT SHINES

Milwaukee is in the top half of the American Hockey League in power play percentage (18.0), but the Admirals were only 1-for-12 in the two games, including 1-for-8 in Sunday's game. In the two games, the Barons killed off three 5-on-3 situations.

“We were very good, and we had to be against these guys,” Nelson said. “We took a lot of unnecessary penalties today. Those things happen. Bachs was really good. We need that unit to keep moving in the right direction and generate something on our power play. It's basically all special teams these days.”

ATTENDANCE UPDATE

Bolstered by Saturday's crowd of 6,196 — the second largest this season — the Barons are averaging around 3,300 fans a game, which ranks 26th in the 30-team American Hockey League. Last season, the Barons finished 30th, averaging 3,527 a game.
