ROCKFORD, Ill. — Brad Winchester scored two goals, including the game-winner with 8:19 left in the second period, and the Rockford Ice Hogs beat the Oklahoma City Barons 4-3 in an American Hockey League game Friday night at BMO Harris Bank Center.
The Barons (10-14-4) continued to struggle on a six-game road trip, falling to 1-3-1. Oklahoma City ends the trip with a 7 p.m. game Saturday, again against Rockford.
Oklahoma City trailed 3-1 at one point in the first period, but it battled back for a 3-3 tie after goals from Ryan Hamilton and Kale Kessy. But Winchester put Rockford (14-11-2) ahead for good with an even-strength score against Barons rookie goaltender Laurent Brossoit.
A crowd of 3,359 saw the Barons outshoot Rockford 13-8 in the third period, but they failed to crack goaltender Mac Carruth, who was making his fourth career AHL start. Oklahoma City was 0 for 3 on the power play, which included two man advantage opportunities in the third period.
The teams each finished with 30 shots on goal.
