The Water Utilities Trust is to consider a proposal to relocate a sport shooting range that encountered opposition from neighbors, but it likely won't happen as scheduled on Tuesday afternoon. A staff memo says Quail Ridge Sporting Clays owner Dave Martin did not agree to a requirement that his clients use steel shot — a nonstarter for shotgun shooting enthusiasts. A settlement likely is the next step with Martin, who originally had a 10-year lease on public land in the West Elm Creek Reservation in southeast Oklahoma City. Last month, Martin said he couldn't afford to run his business if lead shot was banned. “The shooters won't come,” he said.
