The officer was patrolling when he heard what he believed to be multiple gunshots in the area of the Twin Lakes apartment complex, 6329 NW 63 at 10:20 p.m., police Capt. Steve McCool said.

Once there, the officer saw a man who was driving erratically back into another car.

The man got out of his car and ran and the officer chased the man before shooting him, McCool said.

The injured man was taken to the trauma center at OU Medical Center.

Two passengers in the car with the man were detained and questioned by officers, McCool said.

The investigation was ongoing.
