OKC RedHawks beat Memphis in rain-shortened game

From Staff Reports Published: May 24, 2014

— Domingo Santana homered twice and drove in three runs as the Oklahoma City RedHawks defeated the Memphis Redbirds 10-4 in a rain-shortened game on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.

With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, the game was sent into a delay as heavy rain began over downtown Memphis. It was declared an official game after a 36-minute rain delay.

Eight of the RedHawks’ 15 hits went for extra bases, with five doubles and three home runs. Adron Chambers hit his second homer of the season for OKC.

Mike Foltynewicz (4-3) tossed his fourth straight quality start for the RedHawks, giving up two runs on four hits in six innings.

Memphis first baseman Xavier Scruggs went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Redbirds manager Pop Warner was ejected in the seventh inning during a four-run RedHawks rally that pushed the lead to 9-2.

The series continues at 6:05 pm Sunday at AutoZone Park. Memphis right-hander Scott McGregor (0-5, 6.64 ERA) will face OKC righty Jake Buchanan (4-3, 2.63).
