Infielder Jake Elmore, hitting .300 with 20 runs scored for the RedHawks, was called up to Houston to take second baseman Jose Altuve's spot on the roster. Altuve is on bereavement leave, which can last three to seven days.
Due to other recent call-ups, the RedHawks had only one bench player for Tuesday's game — Cody Clark, one of three catchers on the roster. Perez, a catcher, served as the designated hitter.
For the first time in 38 games this season, a player or manager was ejected during a RedHawks game. Salt Lake manager Keith Johnson was tossed by crew chief Kellen Levy in the ninth after Johnson argued a reversed hit-by-pitch call.
Home plate umpire Stu Scheurwater originally ruled the ball hit the knob of Lin's bat. After conferring, umpires reversed the call.
HIT THE ROAD
After playing three eight-game homestands early in the season, the RedHawks will play 20 of their next 24 games on the road. Oklahoma City begins a 12-game road trip Thursday in Sacramento, followed by four-game trips to Fresno and Iowa.
After returning home in two weeks to host Omaha (May 28-31), the RedHawks leave for an eight-game road trip to Albuquerque and Omaha.
