OKC RedHawks: Brett Oberholtzer pitches best game since joining RedHawks from Double-A

Using consistent hitting and bend-but-don't-break pitching, Oklahoma City beat Memphis 7-1 in Bricktown on Monday night. The RedHawks (48-36) remain in first place in the Pacific Coast League's American Conference Southern Division.

Turning point

Batting around in the fourth inning, Oklahoma City scored four of their seven runs, turning a 1-0 lead into a 5-0 cushion and essentially putting this one way. Memphis starter Shelby Miller, the St. Louis Cardinals' top prospect, was sharp early but ran into command issues in the fateful inning, walking three and giving up three hits.

Memphis cleanup hitter Steven Hill grounded out with the bases loaded in the seventh inning. It was the Redbirds' best chance to get back in it. RedHawk starter Brett Oberholtzer had been knocked out of the game, the bags were full and Memphis' best hitter was at the plate. But for the second night in a row, OKC's bullpen came in and stabilized things, retiring Hill and eventually sealing the game.
