Carlos Corporan's run-scoring single with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Oklahoma City RedHawks a 6-5 victory over the Tucson Padres on Sunday afternoon in Pacific Coast League baseball at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Corporan drove home Jimmy Paredes, who sprinted in from second base as a Mother's Day crowd of 5,082 watched.
AT THE PLATE
*The RedHawks almost won the game before Corporan drove in Paredes. Brett Wallace singled earlier in the ninth inning and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Wallace tried to score on Paredes' single but was thrown out at the plate by right fielder Daniel Robertson for the inning's second out. Paredes advanced to second base on Robertson's throw home.
*Oklahoma City collected 16 hits, including four from Paredes. The Hawks' second baseman is batting .295. Wallace and Fernando Martinez added three hits apiece. All three players had a big role in OKC scoring three times in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 5-4 lead. Tucson came back and tied it in the top of the eighth inning.
