OPENING NIGHT

*The RedHawks open an eight-game homestand Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark against Memphis, the St. Louis Cardinals Triple-A affiliate, followed by a four-game series (April 16-19) against Round Rock, the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate.

*The pitching matchup for the home opener has OKC left-hander Brett Oberholtzer, a former eighth-round pick by the Braves, against the Redbirds' Michael Wacha, the Cardinals' top pitching prospect out of Texas A&M. Wacha was selected 19th overall in last year's draft.

Wacha throws a 94 mph fastball complemented by an outstanding change-up. Wacha struck out 40 hitters in 21 innings with a 0.84 ERA in 11 starts last season after signing for $1.9 million last July.

*Oklahoma City opened the season on an eight-game road trip, going 5-2. The finale Thursday night in Nashville was rained out. It was the team's first winning road trip to open a season in nine years.

*Through seven games, RedHawks second baseman Jake Elmore is hitting .444 with six runs. Right fielder Jimmy Parades is hitting .385 with a homer and four RBIs. Third baseman Brandon Laird has a homer and nine RBIs. Left fielder Trevor Crowe has a homer and six RBIs.
