Matt Duffy’s hot streak continued, and the Oklahoma City RedHawks benefited.
Duffy, who hit three home runs on Monday, drilled a double in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Domingo Santana and give the RedHawks a 7-6 walkoff win over the Salt Lake Bees on Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Duffy also hit a two-run homer in the third inning to finish 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Pinch hitter Marc Krauss had tied the game at 6 with a three-run homer in the eighth inning. Then the RedHawks walked off for the third time this season.
The RedHawks built a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning before the Bees responded with five straight runs to take a 6-3 advantage in the top of the eighth.
OKC reliever Kevin Chapman (1-0) worked the ninth inning and picked up the win. OKC starter Paul Clemens went four innings, allowing one run on four hits.
The RedHawks conclude their four-game series against Salt Lake at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Right-hander David Martinez (5-3, 3.76 ERA) will start for the RedHawks, while Joel Pineiro (0-1, 12.60) starts for the Bees.
