DES MOINES, Iowa — Oklahoma City wrapped up the road portion of its Pacific Coast League baseball schedule Sunday with a 4-3 victory over the Iowa Cubs before 10,007 fans at Principal Park. The RedHawks (71-64) won three of five games in the series and return to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark at 7:05 p.m. Monday for a season-ending eight-game home stand against Albuquerque and Round Rock.
Mike Hessman hit a league-leading 31st home run of the season for Oklahoma City, and teammate Jimmy Paredes added his 13th homer of the summer. Starting pitcher Rudy Owens won his first game in a RedHawks uniform since he joined Oklahoma City from the Pittsburgh organization; Owens was acquired in a trade in July, when the Houston Astros sent pitcher Wandy Rodriguez to the Pirates.
Jose Valdez notched his 19th save of the season for the Hawks.
