OKC RedHawks swept, shut out in Tacoma

— The Tacoma Rainiers completed a four-game sweep and shut out the Oklahoma City RedHawks 2-0 on Tuesday night at at Cheney Stadium.

Tacoma’s Taijuan Walker (2-1) went the distance, allowing four hits and striking out eight, to pick up the win. OKC’s David Martinez (5-5) allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings with seven strikeouts, but took the loss.

Xavier Nady’s two-run home run in the first inning was all the offense Tacoma needed. Three Rainiers in the lineup were on a rehab assignment from the parent Seattle Mariners: Michael Saunders, Corey Hart and Justin Smoak.

Oklahoma City will have Wednesday off before starting a four-game homestand at 7:05 p.m. Thursday against division-leading Omaha at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
