SIGHTS AND SOUNDS FROM GAME 5
The scene inside The Peake just keeps getting better and better. Of course, it's not every day your team gets to bounce the storied Lakers out of the playoffs.
SEEN AND HEARD
*You knew this was a big game when Wanda Pratt came back to her seat after halftime wearing her blue Thunder shirt. Kevin Durant's mom hardly ever wears the arena-provided shirt during the playoffs.
And hey, she's Kevin Durant's mom, so she can do whatever she wants.
*The boo birds were still out for Ron Artest/Metta World Peace. Ditto for the signs.
The best one?
World Peace: The Cheapest Player since Ron Artest.
*The sign of the night was reserved for one in the south end of the arena. At the top were pictures of Kobe Bryant and an Academy Award, and at the bottom were photos of Kevin Durant and the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
The words on it: Less Actin', More Action.
*The Craig Sager Watch continues, and it appears that the TNT sideline reporter reserves his craziest outfits for the bright lights of L.A.
He wore a teal jacket, a blue-checked shirt and a blue-paisley tie.
It was a far cry from the bright lime green jacket he wore for Game 4.
*Spotted: Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, who made an appearance with husband Wade Christensen on the Kiss Cam, and Oklahoma offensive lineman Gabe Ikard.
WHAT A LOOK
To the couple sitting near the court sporting the Russell Westbrook podium outfits: simply awesome.
Both the guy and the gal had on red-framed glasses and fishing-lure shirts from LaCoste. It was so great that we'll give them a pass for not wearing their blue shirts like everyone else in the arena.
And if you come back wearing a paint-splattered shirt and red pants next game, we'd be OK with that, too.
TWEET IT UP
What the Twittersphere had to say during Game 5:
@BarrySanders: I'm rooting for OKC. How about you guys?
@JeanieBuss: Friends who called me today for #Lakers tix for Wednesday are cool. Those who will call me tomorrow get zero. #WeWillWinTonite
@HPbasketball: Thunder with ball movement. Lakers are confused by concept.
@Dmarsh42: I was on that last team that played in Seattle. Very passionate fans. I wonder if they are rooting for or against the Thunder.
@roddywhiteTV: Thunder gonna get everything Kobe got tonight.
@RonnieBrewerJr: So was that really a flagrant foul? Let the players decide the outcome of the game. Clean hard foul. That's it.
@LaMichaelJames: Shoutout to all the Laker fans who will become Thunder fans in 2 hours.
@stumpteacher: Rooting for the Thunder this evening. The NBA team. Not the weather that keeps my children up at night.
WHERE ARE YA, LAKER FANS?
You could almost count the number of Laker fans at The Peake on two hands.
It sure didn't look like were more than two dozen Los Angeles fans in the house for Game 5. There weren't all that many for Games 1 and 2, but the drop-off was noticeable on Monday night.
Hmm. Wonder why?
