Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks will be honored April 18 as the Sports Headliner of the Year for 2011.

Brooks and the Thunder claimed the NBA's Northwest Division title on Wednesday and will host a first-round playoff series in Oklahoma City.

Each year, the March of Dimes holds the Sports Headliner banquet to honor athletes, coaches and teams who have brought national attention to the state of Oklahoma. The money raised at the event helps fund March of Dimes programs in Oklahoma.

“The funds we raise at this event help Oklahoma families have healthier babies” said 2011 Headliner chairman Michael Morrison, owner of Comtech Direct Mail Solutions. “For every dollar we raise, 88 cents is spent in Oklahoma on research to prevent infant mortality.”

Emcee's for the event will be Sports Animal radio personality Jim Traber, News 9 Sports Director Dean Blevins and Tulsa News On 6 Sports Director John Holcomb. The Keynote speaker is Lance Barrow, coordinating producer for The NFL on CBS. Barrow, a 10-time Emmy Award winner has worked on six Super Bowls, the Masters, NCAA men's Final Four, the Daytona 500 and the U.S. Open.
