OKC Thunder: Cole Aldrich looking to excel at the little things

Q&A: Backup center impressed with Perry Jones III after first day
by Darnell Mayberry Published: July 9, 2012

Q: Do you feel like you need to showcase something since you've kind of been on the shelf?

A: I wouldn't say showcase anything. Just do what I do, rebound, defend and just set good screens. The little things.

Q: Being one of the veteran guys with this group, how important is it to be a leader out there?

A: It's real important. Reggie and I are coming together this year, and we really worked hard throughout the year just for the fact that we weren't getting good minutes. But we've got to be the leaders of this group.

Q: Is it about showing these guys how hard you have to work for in Oklahoma?

A: Oh definitely. That's the main thing for us. We've had that week beforehand to really work, and the guys have put so much effort into it. We've got little minor things that we've got to work on for (Tuesday's) game but we're going to be fine.

Q: What did you think of Perry Jones?

A: He's really good. It's always tough. You're a rookie coming in and you don't quite know things and it takes time. But he looked good. He's athletic. He's going to rebound. He's going to run the floor and get some easy baskets. He played well (Monday).

Q: How important is it to win in summer league for you guys?

A: I think it's important obviously to win. We want to play together, play the right way and defend the right way. The values of our team is to pass the ball and to defend. I think if we do that then we'll put ourselves in a good position.
