OKC Thunder: Derek Fisher wants to oust NBA players union

Oklahoman Published: February 1, 2013

Former Oklahoma City Thunder guard Derek Fisher is leading a charge to oust NBA Players Association executive director Billy Hunter, according to a Yahoo! Sports report by Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hunter is on a paid leave of absence, according to the report.
"Unfortunately, it appears that Union management has lost sight of the NBPA’s only task, to serve the best interests of their membership," Fisher wrote in a memo sent to players Friday morning. "This is the reason I called for a review almost a year ago. The findings of that review confirm this unfortunate truth and we must now move forward as Players. Immediate change is necessary and I, along with the Committee Members, are committed to driving the process as difficult as it may be."
Fisher joined the Thunder on March 21, 2012 and remained with the team through its run to the NBA Finals. The 38-year-old guard signed with Dallas as a free agent this season but was released on Dec. 22 at his request.
