OKC Thunder: Highlights of the 2013-14 schedule

Even split: Ten of the first 20 games are on the road, and 15 of the first 30 games are on the road.

No Martin Luther King Day game: After playing on the day that honors the late civil rights leader from 2010-12, the Thunder will not be featured as part of this celebratory day for the second consecutive season.

Toughest month: January. Of the month's 17 games, 10 will be played on the road. And those road games include dates at Denver, Memphis, Houston, San Antonio, Miami and Brooklyn.

Easiest month: February. There are just 11 games and seven of them are at home. There's a six-day break in between games. There are no back-to-backs. And opponents include Washington, Orlando, Portland and Cleveland.

Sunday matinee: Rather than the traditional 6 p.m. start time, the Thunder's March 30 game against Utah is scheduled for 2 p.m. despite not being scheduled for ABC. The official word from a team spokesman is the Thunder requested the earlier tip-off time to offer fans more variety. But might the Thunder be testing a new Sunday start time?

Home, sweet home: The Thunder has two six-game home stands, and the All-Star break falls right before the second one. It will allow players an opportunity to put away their luggage from Feb. 14 until March 5.
