During Wednesday night's game against Minnesota, Kevin Durant had inscribed a Sharpie message on his sneakers.
Durant declined to talk about the exact meaning of the message postgame, saying he'd “rather keep that between my family,” but it seemed to be a tribute to somebody he had recently lost that was close to him.
Earlier on Wednesday, Durant posted a photo to Instagram of what seemed to be a family friend from back home.
With it, Durant wrote, in part: “Damn bro, I just seen you at the Wizards game, we chopped it up laughed had a good time … You always had my back. Even when I was a kid, at 9 years old, you was always so cool and gracious to me … Rest in Paradise big homie!”
TULSA RESCHEDULES GAME IN OKC
Because of the inclement weather on Tuesday morning, the Tulsa 66ers Field Trip Day game in Oklahoma City was sparsely attended.
Many of the schools that were scheduled to bring children had cancellations. More than 12,000 people were expected but only about 1,500 were able to make it.
But to accommodate those that weren't able to attend, the team has announced a second game — scheduled for March 11 at 11 a.m. against the Los Angeles Defenders in Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Unused tickets from Tuesday's game will be honored for this contest.
