OKC Thunder: Memphis wins in another OT, takes 3-2 series lead

Are your nerves shot, Thunder fans?

Getting low on your heart meds?

What about your sleep deprivation?

This playoff series against the Grizzlies is taking a toll on Thunder Nation. Another night, another overtime, another thriller.

Memphis 100, OKC 99.

With the loss, the Thunder faces a 3-2 series deficit and stands on the brink of elimination. It must win two consecutive games, the first of which comes in Memphis, or this series and this season is done.

This game was headed toward a Memphis blowout, and the Grizzlies were doing it with offense. Memphis, one of the lowest scoring teams in the entire league during the regular season, was shooting better than 65 percent at one point late in the first half.

The Grizzlies led by 12 points at halftime.

That was about the time that a Cox Cable outage throughout much of the Oklahoma City area affected the game telecast. It went out for much of the third quarter, and when the signal returned, things had only gotten worse.

The Thunder trailed by 18.

The Grizzlies’ lead grew to as many 20 points, but then the Thunder scored on seven consecutive possessions to end the third quarter, including four 3-pointers. During that stretch, the Thunder outscored the Grizzlies 18-4 to cut the lead to six points.
