Hopefully Andre Roberson got a Pikepass for the new year.
Because for the third time this season and second time this month, the Thunder has assigned the rookie forward to the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Developmental League.
Roberson has appeared in 16 games for OKC this season, including four spot starts, averaging 8.7 minutes.
But he's been out of the rotation of late, so the Thunder planted Roberson in Tulsa for some needed game action.
He was with the 66ers on Friday night and expected to play in their game against the Bakersfield Jam.
In an 82-game season, few games stick out as season-changers. But coach Scott Brooks conceded that the Thunder's defense-inspired comeback against the Rockets on Thursday night could stand out.
The Thunder trailed the Rockets 73-59 at halftime but held Houston to 19 second-half points and won 104-92.
“I think as you look back on a season, last night could be a game that we grew,” Brooks said. “That second quarter was frustrating. Nine 3's against a team that takes pride in defense. That was discouraging. But bouncing back in the third quarter when we weren't making shots early on. That could have been demoralizing. But we fought and fought. Definitely a confidence builder.”
WARRIORS INTRODUCE NEW WEAPON
Less than two weeks ago, Jordan Crawford was a member of the Boston Celtics, dropping 17 points and seven assists on the Thunder in Oklahoma City.
On Friday, he was back in the city, but now of a bit more interest for the Thunder.
Crawford, now a member of the Golden State Warriors after last week's trade, is suddenly a key bench player for a Western Conference rival.
In his first game with the Warriors, Crawford had eight points and two assists in 15 minutes.
STAT OF THE NIGHT
Kevin Durant (29), Stephen Curry (22) and Klay Thompson (21) all had more first half points than the Rockets entire team (19) had second-half points on Thursday night.
After an off-day Saturday, the Thunder welcomes another Northern California team into OKC on Sunday night. The 14-23, but surprisingly hot, Sacramento Kings are in town, winners of four out of their past five entering play on Friday. Tip is at 6.
