FSOK “Thunder Live” studio analyst Stephen Howard believes avoiding injuries and continuing to work hard are the keys for the Thunder to make a run at the NBA Finals.
“Especially with this truncated season, I really think the team that is going to emerge with an opportunity is one that's going to able to be lucky with regards to how many games their superstars are able to play as far as not being injured. That's where the Thunder has been pretty fortunate thus far. They have their core intact. And for the most part, you look at (Russell) Westbrook and (Kevin) Durant, you're looking at two of the more Ironmanish superstars in the NBA, which really goes to the way Sam Presti has drafted and put this team together. Bring in guys who have the workmanlike attitude, really that kind of takes on Oklahoma — the blue-collar work ethic. They aren't going to say, ‘My hang nail is torn, let me take this game off.' These guys, you're going to have to put them in a locked room with a guard to get them not to play in a game.”
