After four seasons, the Oklahoma City Thunder is about to get a new uniform.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti said Wednesday that the team will wear an additional uniform this season, marking the first time the franchise will have an alternate uniform. In each of the first four seasons in Oklahoma City, the Thunder played in only its customary home whites or road blues.

Presti declined to reveal the color of the alternate uniforms or the schedule for when the team will wear the new threads.

“We're really excited about it,” Presti said. “We hope people like it. But the people wearing the uniform have to do the job.”

Presti did say that the uniform is Thunder-specific and not a part of the league's annual nod to Latin heritage, which essentially would be the same jersey but with the team's name written in Spanish. Miami, for example, annually wears jerseys that read “El Heat,' while the Lakers have jerseys that read “Los Lakers.” Chicago, Miami, New York, Phoenix and San Antonio are among other teams that have participated in “Noche Latina.”

“It's an alternate jersey that is designed by the team and is up to the team as to how they do it,” Presti said. “I don't want to make a comment with what the direction is…But we're pleased with it, and a lot of people collaborated on it and we'll look forward to having it out there.”
