OKC zombies aren’t good at following the rules

Sometimes you just want to go out for a stroll with your family to look for a good time.

And brains.

Apparently that’s what happened Saturday when a friendly zombie mob hit downtown. They weren’t actual zombies because they were alive — not the brain-hungry undead.

On second thought, actual zombies could have slipped into the crowd undetected.

That might explain the "blood.” Oklahoma City police detectives checked out a report of blood splattered in the streets Tuesday morning. Turns out it was fake blood left behind by this most hilarious idea of all time: Zombie Walk OKC.

Basically, Zombie Walk OKC is a group of people who dress up like zombies, meet somewhere and walk around. This is absolutely fantastic.

The best part: They have rules. Even zombies need to operate in a civilized, though undead, manner. For example, the No. 1 rule is to be courteous to others. This should be the No. 1 rule for life, as well as the afterlife.

My favorite is No. 4: "You are your own zombie. You are responsible for yourself and your actions. Don’t do anything stupid.”

Oh, if only I had followed that rule in college.

To that end, one of the rules is to not leave any mess behind.

"No bloody hand prints on anyone’s property or empty makeup/blood packaging or other litter scattered around,” says the website, www.zombiewalkokc.com.

Apparently some zombies left a bit of "blood” behind near NE 2 and Oklahoma Avenue.

Though it wasn’t real, I’m sure it must have been really terrifying for anyone who spotted it.

Bad zombies. I’m sure they learned their lesson, though, and will be better in the next life.
