The Oklahoma City Barons entered Friday's game with the American Hockey League's top power play, but they were 0 for 5 with the man advantage in a 3-0 loss to the Texas Stars.

“We actually had pretty good zone time,” said forward Jordan Eberle. “But at the end of the day the power play has got to score. With the talent we have on this team, we have to put it in the net.”

BARONS, STARS ARE FAMILIAR FOES

The Barons and Stars play each other four times in an 11-day span.

In addition to a rematch Saturday night at 7, the Barons and Stars play Thursday in Cedar Park, Texas, and play again in Oklahoma City on New Year's Eve.

“We'll look at some things we can do differently,” said Barons coach Todd Nelson. “Texas has a very solid defense. But I thought it was too easy (for them) tonight to break the puck out. Our forecheck was good but at times it wasn't.”

SCHULTZ DOESN'T SCORE

If the Barons score, rookie defenseman Justin Schultz almost always finds the stat sheet. Schultz has scored in 23 of Oklahoma City's 27 games. Considering OKC has been shut out three times, Schultz has been blanked only once when the Barons score.

OIL SPILLS ...

The Barons own one of the league's top home records. Friday's loss was only the second loss in regulation in Oklahoma City's past 10 home games. ... Despite Friday's loss, the Barons still lead the season series 2-1-0. ... The Barons are giving away a vehicle at every Saturday home game. This Saturday's giveaway is a 2012 GMC Sierra.
