Agnus Berenato pointed out before Sunday night’s Sweet 16 showdown with Oklahoma that she loved watching Sooner freshman Whitney Hand play on film.

Safe to say, the in-game experience wasn’t quite so enjoyable for the Pittsburgh coach.

Hand tore up the Ford Center for the second time this season, leading OU to a 70-59 victory before 10,343 fans to put the Sooners in the Elite Eight for the second time in school history.

"Give her credit, she knocked the shots down,” Berenato said. "She’s a great player. I like her attitude, I like her game.

"But yeah, if she wanted to transfer, you could send her my way.”

Hand scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, both career highs, in not only her best game since returning from a broken finger two weeks ago, but her finest performance of the season.

"She is big time. An extraordinary college basketball player,” OU coach Sherri Coale said. "You can spot the great ones because they show up when the lights are brightest.”

Early on, Pitt showed up, too, and went toe-to-toe with the top-seeded Sooners despite the partisan OU crowd.
