After back-to-back jumpers by Shavonte Zellous and Shayla Scott midway through the first half, the Panthers had the game tied, 16-16.
But that’s when Hand took over.
After draining a 3-point basket, Hand collected a Courtney Paris miss on the next possession and with one hand tossed the ball in off the glass while tumbling down over Pitt defenders for a 3-point play.
"Our game plan was to attack them,” said Hand, whose previous career-high of 20 points came in OU’s victory over Tennessee at the Ford Center last month. "I was lucky to hit some shots in the beginning to get us going.”
Hand’s back-to-back 3-point baskets ignited a 20-7 Sooner run that propelled OU to a 41-32 lead at halftime.
The Sooners eventually extended that lead to 27 points in the second half before cruising the rest of the way.
"I don’t think it’s about what I did,” Hand said. "I’m really glad I had a good game.
"But I’m so much happier our team is in the Elite Eight.”
