Oklahoma among 'tightest' states, according to Mother Jones

What makes a society 'tight' or 'loose'?

Mother Jones put together a criterion to gauge each American state's so-called tightness or looseness based on several factors including "the legality of corporal punishment in schools, the general severity of legal sentences, access to alcohol and availability of civil unions, level of religiosity, and the percent of the population that is foreign."

So how did Oklahoma fare? Awfully 'tight,' it turns out, so 'tight' in fact, that it wound up in the top four and 'tightest' possible category.
