Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt issued a scam alert Wednesday, warning Oklahomans that a person claiming to represent the Oklahoma Health Care Authority may be calling residents and asking for their Social Security numbers and other personal information.

“Oklahomans need to be alert and never give personal information over the telephone unless they initiate the call,” Pruitt said in a news release. “We encourage consumers to contact our office if they feel they have been victims of a scam or have questions about suspicious calls or emails.”

Oklahomans who believe they may have been victims of scam attempts can call the Attorney General’s Public Protection Unit at 521-2029 or write to the unit by email at public.protection@oag.ok.gov.
